Natural Skin Care Oils, Butters and Hydrosols

Our natural skin care oils, butters and hydrosols are the products our customers use most on their skin. Each is a single plant ingredient or a simple blend, so you know exactly what goes on your face and body.

Light seed oils such as jojoba, kiwi seed and prickly pear seed oil absorb quickly and suit facial care. Richer oils like batana, marula and manketti, and butters like shea butter nilotica and tamanu butter, soften dry skin on the body, hands and feet. Hydrosols of neroli, geranium and helichrysum work as a face mist or toner.

Choosing Oils and Butters for Your Skin

For dry skin

Richer oils such as batana, marula and manketti, and butters such as shea butter nilotica and tamanu butter, suit dry skin best. Apply them to damp skin after washing, and use butters on the driest spots such as hands, heels and elbows.

For normal and combination skin

Medium-weight oils such as moringa and prickly pear seed oil feel comfortable without heaviness. Use a few drops on the face and a little more on the body.

For skin that feels oily

Light, quick-absorbing oils such as jojoba, kiwi seed and cucumber seed oil are the usual choice. Use just two or three drops and press them in rather than rubbing.

Start simple

Try one new product at a time so you can tell how your skin responds. A spray of hydrosol before your oil helps it spread evenly.

Skin Care FAQs

How do I patch test a new oil?

Apply a small amount to the inner forearm and leave it for 24 hours. If there is no redness or itching, the product is usually fine to use more widely.

Can I use body butter on my face?

Light butters such as mango can work on dry facial skin in small amounts. Richer butters are better kept for the body.

Which oils absorb fastest?

Jojoba, kiwi seed and prickly pear seed oil are among the lightest in our range.

Can I mix different oils together?

Yes. Many people blend a light oil with a richer one to get the texture they like. Mix small amounts in a clean dark glass bottle.
