Why violet glass
Clear glass lets all light in and amber glass blocks part of it. Miron violet glass blocks almost the whole visible spectrum, which is why it is used for oils and dried plants that are kept on display. Like any glass, it is inert and fully reusable.
What fits in a 1 liter jar
- A kilo of bath salt or Epsom salt
- Dried herbs bought in bulk
- Rice, lentils or flour on an open shelf
- Clays and botanical powders
A liter suits pantry and bathroom stock you refill smaller jars from. Full, it is heavy, so it is best on a shelf at waist height or lower.
Filling and care
Wash by hand in warm soapy water and let the jar dry fully before refilling, since moisture trapped under the stopper spoils dried goods. Lift the jar by the body, not the stopper.
FAQs
Can it hold liquids?
The stopper lifts off and is not a screw cap, so the jar is meant to stand on a shelf. For liquids, use a bottle with a threaded cap.
How much salt fits in 1 liter?
About 1.1 to 1.3 kg of coarse bath salt.
