This 2 liter apothecary jar is the largest jar we sell, a dark violet Miron glass jar with a flat glass stopper. It is made for bulk storage on a pantry shelf, a workshop bench or a shop counter.

Why violet glass

Miron is a violet glass made to keep light away from what it holds: only violet light passes through, so oils, herbs and waters stay in the dark. It does not leach into or take on the smell of its contents.

What fits in a 2 liter jar

• Bulk bath salts, clays or soap-making ingredients
• Large stocks of dried herbs and flowers
• Pasta, beans or grains on an open shelf
• A counter display of loose tea in a shop

Two liters takes about 2.4 kg of coarse salt or 200 to 400 g of dried leaves, depending on how loose they are.

Filling and care

Wash by hand in warm soapy water and let the jar dry fully before refilling, since moisture trapped under the stopper spoils dried goods. Lift the jar by the body, not the stopper.

FAQs

Is the jar clear glass?

No. It is dark violet glass that looks black in normal light, so a label on the front helps.

Is it too big for a bathroom?

It is a pantry or counter jar. For a bathroom shelf, the 500 ml or 1 liter size is easier to handle.
