Description
Mamey sapote is a tall evergreen tree from southern Mexico, grown across Central America for its sweet, salmon-red fruit. Each fruit holds one large, glossy seed. The seeds are saved when the fruit is eaten fresh or made into juice and ice cream, then dried in the sun and pressed. In Mexico the oil is known as sapuyul oil and has long been used as a hair oil. It is golden, with a mild almond-like scent and a rich but smooth feel. This 1 litre size suits makers of hair oils, body oils and soaps.
