Where Buchu comes from
Buchu (Agathosma betulina) is a small evergreen shrub native to the mountains of South Africa's Western Cape. It belongs to the same family as citrus plants, and the Khoisan people have used it for generations.
Its leaves carry a strong, fresh aroma often compared to blackcurrant and peppermint, from naturally occurring compounds such as isomenthone and limonene. Today it is prized as a rare aromatic botanical.
How to use Buchu
- Add a few drops to a diffuser for its aroma.
- For skin, dilute 1 to 2 drops in a teaspoon of carrier oil before applying.
- Keep away from eyes and never use undiluted on skin.
For external use only. Patch test on a small area before first use and stop if irritation occurs. If you are pregnant, nursing or have a medical condition, ask a healthcare professional before use.
