Our batana oil is 100% pure and cold-pressed from the nut of the American oil palm, Elaeis oleifera, in the Mosquitia region of Honduras, where the Miskito and Tawira people have made it for generations. It is a thick, dark brown oil with a roasted, smoky smell, used in hair oils, conditioners and balms.

About our batana oil
Batana oil comes from the nut of the American oil palm, Elaeis oleifera, in the Mosquitia region of Honduras, where the Miskito and Tawira people have made it for generations. Ours is 100% pure and cold-pressed. It is a thick, dark brown oil with a roasted, smoky smell.
Handling a thick oil
Batana and ojon oil thicken and can set to a paste in cool weather. To decant, stand the closed container in warm water until the oil loosens, then pour. Gentle warming does not harm the oil, but avoid direct heat.
Using it in products
Brands use batana oil in hair oils, conditioners, masks, pomades and balms. Its colour and scent carry into finished products, so test small batches before scaling up.
