The drumstick tree, _Moringa oleifera_, is a fast-growing tree from the foothills
of the Himalayas, now grown across India and Africa. Its long ribbed pods hold rows
of round seeds with papery wings. The dry pods are picked by hand, split open, and
each seed is shelled before the kernels are pressed. Moringa oil is pale yellow,
almost odourless and silky. It is around 70 percent oleic acid and contains behenic
acid, which is why it is also called ben oil. It resists going rancid, so perfumers
have long used it to hold scents.
