Clove Bud Oil
Common English Name: Clove (bud).
Botanical Name: Syzygium aromaticum.
Plant Family: Myrtaceae.
Method of Extraction: Distillation of the buds.
Origin: Indigenous to Indonesia but cultivated in several countries worldwide including Madagascar, the Molucca Islands, and the Philippines.
Plant Description: A tall evergreen tree with bright green leaves, and long buds. The buds mature to a deep red color.
Main Chemical Components: Eugenol (phenols).
Blends Well With: Many citrus and spice essential oils, ylang ylang and lavender essential oils; carrier oils.
Uses: Damaged skin, oily skin.
Fun Fact: The buds are beaten from the tree and dried to produce the cloves used as a spice.
